This scrolling platform/shooter let me think on Turrican, but this one is a remake of Xain, originally created by Technos Japan Corp back in 1986
You control the main character Xain, a soldier who must single-handedly defeat the evil empire Dristarg.
Five planets in the solar system need to be rescued, then the final showdown on Empire's mobile fortress.
Between each completed stage, Xain jumps back into his space craft and the game style changes from that of a platformer to a shmup.
Here you must survive to the end of the stage before proceeding to the next planet!
Controls:
Arrows = Move
Z = Shoot
X = Jump (or torpedoes on ship)
