A cool oldish Scorched Earth game for 1 player.
The graphics are not amazing, but the gameplay is.
How to play
First create a player (put in your name) and then buy a tank in the Tank Shop. Now you are ready to play. When starting the game, you can choose the number of computer opponents (1 to 7 players), a difficulty level and the point of time (day or night). Then a random scenario starts up and the battle begins. It's a turn-based game, so you have to wait untill it's your time to play.
First aim your canon with the left and right arrow keys, set up the power with the up and down arrows, and when you are ready, press space to fire!
It's really an easy game to play, but it's not always easy to win ;)
You cannot move your tank, but when someone shoots the ground under your tank away, you will go down a bit. At this manner you have always to change the position of your canon. In some scenario's, you are located in a cave with stalactites and stalagmites. When someone fire, it's possible that a piece or even a whole stalactite will fall down and becomes a stalagmite. Such a stalagmite works as a shield between your and the other tanks.
After winning some battles, you have earned some money and you can visit the Tank Shop to buy a better tank, or some shields, or something else. But don't forget, if you buy a better tank or heavier missiles, the enemy will do the same!
Controls:
Left/right arrow keys = change the angle of your canon
Up/down arrow keys = change the fire power
Space = fire
Esc = exit
It's amazing that such a simple game can be so exciting!
Pros :
- Good physics. A must for this type of game.
- The tank shop is a nice touch. Gives it an edge over other games like it.
- The sound effects are pretty good.
- The wide range of game options is great.
Cons :
- Cannot run on my higher-end system.
- Runs quit slowly on the system it did work on.
- The AI sometimes gets stuck up and you have to exit the game.
- The graphics could use some work.
This game was an entry of the Caiman Easter contest 2006
