The title says it all. This is one incredible game that looks like its being sketched on a notepad as you play it. The effect is very unique and perfect for the style of game that it is.
Physics and controls run like your standard Lunar Lander type game. You are a spaceship with gravity pulling down on you at all times. By pressing the upkey, you can apply thrust in whichever direction you are pointing. Also, the collision is alot like a Lunar Lander remake in that you can't touch anything without receiving damage to your ship.
This, however, is where the similarities end. You are part of a future military operation against an enemy force complete with tanks, ships, gunning towers, and more. You must carry out various missions to procede through the game.
While the sound and graphics are great, this game does suffer from hard-to-learn controls and an impossible level advance sytem (after playing it for hours I still couldn't figure out how your progress was saved).
Overall though, if you give it some time and get used to the controls/physics, you'll have a great time with this well-programmed production.
Pros :
- Very well chosen sound effects. Right down to the "Evacuation order acknowledged" one when you exit.
- Unique graphics and gameplay.
- Extensive training levels to get you used to the game.
- Plenty of levels
- Nice old-film effects on menu. Gives it a World War IIish feel.
Cons :
- Very hard to figure out how progress is saved. Even after playing the game for several days I still haven't completely figured it out.
- It would be nice if it was a little clearer where the ship was pointing. When I first played it I couldn't tell which way I was pointed and ended up crashing alot.
- Controls take quite a bit of getting used to. However, after several hours you do eventually get the hang of it. This could be fixed by having an option for controlled-flight mode where your always pointing up and your machine gun comes out the bottom of the ship.
This game was an entry of the Caiman Easter contest 2006
