A cool platformer in the style of Mario and Apogee games
In Crystal Towers, you play as Bernard, the nightwatchman at the Column Temple. He wakes up during the night to discover that the Life Crystals which he was supposed to be guarding have been stolen, and now has to recover the crystals from around the world before anyone discovers that they're gone.
You have to find all five of the crystals to finish the game entirely. A number of different routes are provided in the game, and you have to explore all of the stages eventually to recover the crystals. The coloured crystals are hidden in a tower each, and the route to the fifth crystal will become available after you have all four of the others.
Crystal Towers features 25 levels in total in four separate routes through the game.
It's a very nice game, but there is no way to save the game. A real shame! The author wrote that the game will save automatically the game every 5 levels. I don't know if this works or not, because I only completed 4 levels and I had to go to my bed. The next morning I should have to replay all the levels just to enter the fifth one again. I didn't it, I was too lazy to replay the whole thing again.
The author wrote that you can edit the crystal.sav file in order to cheat. I did, but without any hint it's almost impossible to do that right, so I gave up.
Controls: (keyboard or joystick)
in menu: arrows + shift
in game:
Arrows keys = move
Shift = jump (jump on the enemies head to destroy them)
Esc = this should be "back to menu", but it doesn't work! :(
Alt-F4 = exit
